8 Simple Steps to Help You Prepare for Ramadan

We plan and prepare for many upcoming events in our life. The month of Ramadan is one of the most important events in Islam so we must prepare for Ramadan with a plan for our faith. We should enter the month of Ramadan with great zeal and devotedness and have a beautiful impact on our life. Here are 8 steps for a Legacy of a Ramadan.

Step 1 – Create a Ramadan Count Down

We should count down for Ramadan and create hype and buzz in your mind and amongst the people around us.  When we all are counting down to the same event it increases the excitement and passion for the event.

Step 2 – Seek knowledge about Ramadan

As Ramadan comes only one time in a year so most of us don’t remember the do and don’ts of Ramadan. We should start learning about Ramadan before this month of blessing starts. The more knowledge we will get about it, the more we will apply in a month on Ramadan and hence we will get more reward.

Step 3 – Make a Ramadan plan

To get most out of Ramadan we should pre-plan the Ramadan. It can be Reading Quran more than one time in Ramdan, ensuring the tarawih prayer, inviting people for Iftar, and other spirituals goals to achieve.  It is very important that our goal should be realistic and workable. If you know what you want to achieve in Ramadan, you can try better to achieve it.

Step 4 – Know your life

You should know what is going to happen in your life in the month of Ramadan or shortly after. Keep the days of Ramadan empty from any worldly event such as a wedding, trip, moving house. Try to gain as much as possible in this month of blessings. Many people spend the last days of Ramadan shopping and miss the opportunities for seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT.

Step 5 – Prepare spiritually

We should do virtuous acts such as Fasting, Praying, Reading Quran, charity but this should not be limited only to the month of Ramadan. We should not wait for the start of Ramadan to do worships, we should start it as early as possible. Every moment of life is precious should be spent to please Allah SWT. We should start practicing the worships of Ramadan before it starts. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon also prepared for Ramadan and did fasting during Sha’baan.

Step 6 – Prepare your mind

Fasting is not just refraining from food, it includes cleaning of mind and heart with patience. We should stop doing bad acts such as backbiting, slandering, and other useless things.

Step 7 – Say ‘good riddance’ to bad habits

We should not wait for Ramadan to quit our bad habits. If you are sleeping late, you should make habit of sleeping early so that you can easily wake up in the month of Ramadan. It sounds difficult but once you have committed to yourself and your intentions are purified. It’s not a big deal and it will be easier than it sounds.

Step 8 – Plan your life around your worship

Make a plan so that your worship may not get interrupted by your work and other daily life activities. For example, if you have a meeting on prayer time make it later or early so that it may not affect your worship in Ramadan. Also, try to decrease the activities which take a lot of your time, make the best use of time by spending in worship.
