Islam gives us a complete social system in which responsibilities are most emphasized than freedom. A man practicing Islam has to be a responsible person and Islam defines very clear guidelines for a stable social structure. It’s the responsibility of every Muslim to create harmonious bonding in family structure. Here we are going to discuss the responsibilities given by Islam to parents so that they can raise their children to value people of society. Every Muslim parent has to be very careful and ambitious for raising their kids as Allah SWT says in the Quran,
[su_quote]O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded.[/su_quote] t-Tahrim: 06
It is very clear for the above ayah that the Muslim parents should be very concerned about upbringing for their kids. It is also your responsibility to save them from hellfire and help them attaining Jannah. So we will be discussing some responsibilities of parents in the next lines.
Responsibilities of Parents
- The first and most important responsibility of every parent is to provide rational proofs of Islamic doctrine. It is about educating kids in ways so that kids have the best and correct knowledge of Islam and firm belief in Allah SWT.
- Prayer is also the most important obligation for every Muslim so parents should start motivating and encouraging their kids from an early age so that they can develop the habit of praying regularly.
- Fasting is a unique moral and spiritual characteristic of Islam. Muslim parents should also develop a habit of fasting in their kids because it is our religious obligation.
- Prophet Mohammed Peace be upon Him is the Last Messenger of Allah SWT, so it is the duty of all Muslims to pass the message of Allah to his fellow humans. A Muslim must apply the teachings of Allah SWT on his life and convey to other humans and develop the same sense of responsibility in his kids.
- Muslim parents must also bring moral and ethical values to their kids so that they can be good members of our society.
Grooming children
1. Educate your children with knowledge of Islam. As Prophet Mohammed Peace be Upon Said
Teach your children and teach them properly. [Ibn e Majah]
- Be a good example for your kids but practicing Islam fully in your own life.
- Encourage them for good acts and discourage them from wrongful acts.
- Teach them to respect and tolerate others. Also tell them about respect, dignity, and honor or women in Islam.
- Develop Islamic values in your kids such as telling truth, keeping a promise, avoid backbiting, being honest, and so on.
May Allah keeps us on the right path and makes us as well as our kid’s best Muslims.
